Imagine a World Without Us...
By Alex Vigder, Emory University, Class of 2025
Artist's Statement
My goal for the art I make is to bridge the widening gap between humans and nature and to help people emotionally connect with all of the other elements on our planet. I used acrylic paint and digital media to create this piece. Each fantastical creature represents different elements of the natural world that support each other's thriving. My art views nature with a sense of humility. If people see the natural world as a whole of which they are just a part, then I believe they can feel more connected to it.
About Alex Vigder
I consider myself an environmental artist. I’m interested in exploring how different people treat the land they reside on, what peoples are the most heavily impacted by climate change, who contributes the most to climate change, how climate change appears in our daily lives, and how do our daily activities contribute to the fight against climate change.
As an intern at the Science Gallery, I am learning about how to host community events, build community engagement, and about place-based learning. I am also trained to facilitate workshops using art to mediate discussions about climate change.
